We are growing our Check Deposits R&D (Research & Development) Team in Spain and looking for a Researcher in Computer Vision.

The Check Deposits R&D Team is responsible for: ensuring that Check Deposits technology delivers accurate image quality assessment, check layout analysis, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) extraction of printed and handwritten characters, and check fraud detection, and for the development of the new technology generation that will ensure the continuity of our leadership in the market by bringing check processing and fraud detection to the next level.

As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced computer vision algorithms and deep learning models that provide state-of-the-art performance on check processing and authentication and develop innovative technology to detect fraud on transactions based on checks.

What you will do

  • Effectively implement algorithms following guidelines from other researchers or a paper and design their own for simple problems.
  • Design, implement, and execute the experimental setup and needed evaluation metrics, and analyze and interpret the data obtained under minor supervision.
  • Produce moderately complex data under supervision. 
  • Read papers and search for information about the state of the art without supervision to broaden your expertise in a given area, contributing with the application of state-of-the-art technology as a solution to current problems.
  • Co-author papers for workshops and conferences.
  • Posses a strong working knowledge of and application of techniques and practices on Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, ID Documents and Forgeries.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought.
  • Understand the objective of the features assigned and can contribute to the definition of the needed stories to achieve them.
  • Guide Research Interns to develop their activities.
  • Effectively explain the outcome of research and its value to research colleagues.
  • Provide critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas."

What you need (to be successful in this role)

  • PhD/MSc degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and research experience.
  • 5 years of related experience, depending on education.
  • Expertise in computer vision, machine learning and image processing.
  • Python programming skills, including Pandas, Sklearn, Numpy, MatplotLib.
  • C++ programming skills.
  • Proven hands-on experience developing image processing and computer vision algorithms.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Deep Learning.
  • Expert in one or more machine learning frameworks: Tensorflow, PyTorch, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.

What would be nice to have (for perfect match)

  • Background knowledge of anomaly detection methods and statistical modeling.
  • Experience in Fraud Detection, especially in Finance.
  • Experience with document extraction and authentication and/or facial recognition.

€40,000 - €50,000 a year
fix salary + 10% annual bonus
