The Sr. Payroll Manager is responsible for performing accurate and timely processing of multi-state payrolls and provided guidance and assistance to ex-US payrolls. This role is highly operational in nature and is heavily directed towards input and production of the payroll, including the regular semi-monthly process plus special payments such as bonuses, commissions and other one-time payments. This person should have advanced knowledge of the entire payroll production methodology, a solid understanding of payroll, and be highly process oriented.

The successful candidate will have proven history of demonstrating excellent judgment in carrying out the details of the work according to applicable regulations, company policies and procedures. The Sr. Payroll Manager must maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity to ensure confidence and protection of the integrity of the payroll operations and information and must be able to perform each of the following responsibilities satisfactorily and strive to ensure zero errors when processing payroll.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • US Payroll:
  • Prepare, calculate, process and review US payroll to ensure timely and accurate payroll transactions, to include variable income (bonuses, commissions), hourly/salary, benefits, garnishments, miscellaneous deductions, and taxes.
  • Maintain and apply appropriate State, Federal, and local guidelines to establish proper payroll compliance.
  • Calculate payroll liabilities after each payroll for all employee Federal and State income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Ensure payroll taxes are properly withheld for stock option exercises and equity award vesting.
  • Analyze, review, and report semi-monthly summaries specific to general ledger transactions, workers compensation computations, and departmental detail wage/incentive reports.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries to be loaded into NetSuite.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for payroll related accounts.
  • Respond to employee inquiries (phone, email, fax) regarding payroll related questions such as check detail, deductions, garnishments, etc.
  • Ex-US Payroll:
  • Support and assist payroll processing in ex-US jurisdictions.
  • Rely on payroll expertise to review current processes and implement best practices where needed.
  • Advise global team in conforming to US practices where applicable.
  • Global:
  • Assist with gathering appropriate information for use in the annual proxy statement.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources department to ensure correct employee data.
  • Miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned.

What You'll Need (Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities typically associated with 8+ years managing full-cycle payroll with 500 or more employees. Multi-entity payroll preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is Business, Accounting or relevant field.
  • Ceridian Dayforce Platform experience.
  • Ability to administer the day-to-day payroll functions including reconciling transactions, termination dates, tax withholding and reporting, and other items as required.
  • Excellent understanding of payroll process and related functions.
  • Competent knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and rules related to payroll regulations and compliance issues.
  • PC literate (Internet, Excel, Word), advanced Excel functions.

What Would Be Nice (Preferred Skills & Experience)

  • Experience working in a global, publicly traded company with exposure to global payroll preferred.
  • Ability to support and assist payroll processing in ex-US jurisdictions.
  • General understanding of the U.S. Federal and State taxation for equity compensation to provide support in global equity reporting and compliance with international tax and regulatory requirements.

$110,000 - $135,000 a year
